We just got back from a walk with Betty (our furry little sunshine), and guess what? The first glimpses of spring have finally arrived after a brutal cold snap here in Nashville! And let me tell you—I was READY. I think I might be part human, part solar panel because the moment that sunshine hit my face, my energy levels skyrocketed. Maybe it’s the California girl in me, or maybe it’s just science, but either way—grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it!

Now, onto something even more special: Hello Rainbow. This song holds a huge place in my heart because it’s all about stepping into your greatest heart’s desires—even if they don’t come in the package or timeline you expected. And trust me, I know that feeling all too well.

There was a season in my life when my biggest dreams felt completely out of reach. I had done everything I could to make them happen, and yet... nothing. Nada. Zilch. It was frustrating, exhausting, and downright heartbreaking at times. But here’s the thing about dreams: sometimes, when you stop chasing them so hard, they finally find you.

A Rainy Day, A Double Rainbow, and A Big Surprise

Flashback to a rainy day in Nashville. The plan? Church with friends followed by a super fancy (and totally boujee) birthday lunch at Restoration Hardware. My girlfriends whisked me away under the guise of a “girls-only” outing, leaving my then-boyfriend, Joren, behind. Little did I know, they were all in on something BIG.

Fast forward a few hours, and I was running late to meet Joren for dinner (which, if you know him, is already pushing his A-type personality to the edge). We dashed through the rain to our favorite Sushi & Thai spot for what I thought was just a regular date night. But as we stepped outside afterward, something magical happened—not one, but TWO rainbows stretched across the sky.

Now, if this were a movie, this would be the part where you yell at the screen: “GIRL, PAY ATTENTION!” But at that moment, I was just in awe of how beautiful it was—totally unaware of what was coming next.

We hopped in the car and headed to what I believed was a worship night at a friend’s house. And as we drove, I found myself reflecting on our relationship, feeling so overwhelmed with gratitude for Joren and everything we had built together.

Then, the hints started dropping.

• Hint #1: No other cars in the driveway. Weird.
• Hint #2: Joren pulls a guitar out of the trunk. Confused. “Wait… are YOU leading worship tonight?”
• Hint #3: I step inside and see decorations, lights, and a beautifully set-up cabin. And suddenly, it clicks.

OH. MY. GOSH. He’s about to propose.

It was everything I had dreamed of and more—not just the proposal itself, but the fact that I was saying "yes" to a man who was my best friend, my biggest champion, and the person I wanted to build a life with.

To see a rainbow, there has to be rain first. And let’s be honest—sometimes, the rain feels like it’s never going to stop.
